Beloved’s 2015 Budget

It is important to us that our budget spending reflects our church covenant.

With that in mind, we wrote a budget based on our community values. Here is how our church spends money:

1. Building Faith & Fellowship

What we spend: 35% of budget spending; 15% of volunteer hours

What it means: “Beloved is one of those rare places that you can walk into and feel loved, accepted and completely relaxed — while at the same time knowing that you will be challenged to figure out ways to live out your faith.”  -Jennifer

2. Community Outreach & Organizing

Our Brown Bag ministry serves over 500 people/year. Above: Nancy and Brian helped distribute Christmas turkeys.

What we do: missions, benevolence, and advocacy. Our giving supports UCC denominational activities, international missions, local ministries & outreach, advocacy, community organizing and leadership building. We also provide hospitality for local peace & justice groups, civic gatherings and art events.

What we spend: 26% of total budget spending; 25% of volunteer hours

Beloved hosted community events this year including Sister City Connection, Human Rights Campaign, Birmingham Peace Project, Southern Women’s Literature Review, the Cuba Caravan, ACIJ & more!

What it means: “Beloved teaches that the Kingdom of God is here and now. That means ending oppression, recognizing the humanity of all people, and extending liberation and love to everyone. Beloved shows us how it should work.” -Robyn

3. Children’s Ministry & Adult Education

What we do: we lead children’s church & adult Bible study, circulate educational materials (including our new Whole People of God curriculum), and support ongoing educational opportunities.

4. Caring Ministries

What we do: pastoral care, church hospitality, care teams (meals, home visits, etc.)

Over 18 Beloveds took care of Felice tirelessly at the end of her life.

What we spend: 20% of total budget spending, 35% of volunteer hours

We are building a community of care and support for one another, always welcoming newcomers.

What it means: “You can be yourself here. You can be honest. You don’t have to be perfect. That’s what I love. I love my church. This church is a place of refuge.”  -Michelle
