Dear Beloveds,
Last night we said farewell to our Beloved pastor Angie Wright, and we are so thankful for all of you who were able to be there with us. For those of you who missed it, we will be sharing the video soon.
We will have the following guest preachers over the next month. We hope to see your face, hear your voice and give you a warm embrace!
Sunday, January 24th: Sally Harris preaching
Sunday, January 31st: Leah Clements preaching
The ministries and work of the church are still run by lay leadership including church council and care team. The church and its people will continue our mission while the search committee goes about its business of finding a new pastor.
Below, we have listed 3 ministry opportunities at Beloved: Care Team, Family Promise and Brown Bag ministry. These opportunities span every day of the week and most hours of the day – so everyone should be able to find some hours in the week that might work for you. With the upcoming Martin Luther King Day of Service, this week is a great time to connect and commit yourself to some of these opportunities.
Volunteer for Care Team
Care Team works to meet the pastoral care needs of our Beloveds with phone calls, texts, notes, visits, transportation, and food. It doesn’t take a lot of time to make a big difference in someone’s life. Please come to our next meeting or email Marianne to see how you might contribute to caring for our Beloveds who are in the nursing home, in jail or otherwise in need of support.

Volunteer to help homeless families
Once every three months, our church has committed to help host homeless families through Family Promise Network. We think it’s pretty cool that unlike a lot of shelters, Family Promise does not split up families. It is organized in partnership with over 15 area congregations who take turns hosting each week.
Since we don’t have the facilities to host families in on our own, we partner with Baptist Church of the Covenant on University Boulevard where families have private rooms, showers and a full kitchen. While families are in the program, they also have support from a social worker to find stable, permanent housing.
We are hosting again on January 18th-20th. Want to help? We have 3 ways:
1. Sleep at Baptist Church of the Covenant on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesdaynight (7 pm – 7 am). As a matter of policy, you will not be the only volunteer; Church of the Covenant will always have a volunteer hosting with you. You will be provided with your own comfortable twin bed in a private room and just need to bring your own bedding. Your job is to make sure the families have what they need and get to know them: play games with the kids, watch a movie, read a book and relax!
2. Provide supplies for breakfasts and lunches. Families will pack their own lunches each day and also make their own breakfasts, so it is good for them to have a variety for the whole family. We will know the exact number of guests the week before – the food should be dropped off at the church on Sunday, January 17th.
3. Donate dinner on Monday or Tuesday night. We will know the exact number of guests for you to plan on the week before. You are welcome to partner with someone else to provide the meal(s).
Sunday, May 1st – Wednesday, May 4th
Sunday, August 14th – Wednesday, August 17th
Sunday, November 27th – Wednesday, November 30th
Volunteer to feed Beloved families.
Our Brown Bag Ministry is here for families in our community who just need some extra food to get by. We meet one Wednesday a month to pack bags and distribute the bags the following Saturday. Join us once a month to pack bags, bring food for the hospitality hour, or just come socialize with families when they stop by to get their bags on Saturdays.
Our next Brown Bag dates will be Wednesday, January 20th (5 pm) and Saturday, January 23rd (9:45 am).
